Workout Kids Push The Limits Of Safe Exercise

With childhood obesity more than tripling in the past 30 years, it seems commendable for a child to take on fitness the way 10-year-old CJ Senter does. Professionally known as The Workout Kid, CJ boasts a six-pack and a DVD fitness series designed to help kids get active. He also plays running back on a local football team, runs the 200 meter, the 100 meter and the 50 meter track events, and says he prefers fruits and vegetables over sweets and snacks.

The Surgeon General claims, black women’s hair to blame for obesity

Black women can’t catch a break. Lately, they’ve been criticized for everything from wearing weaves to weighing more than other racial groups, and even (by their own black male counterparts) accused of not being the right “type” of women for today’s white girl addicted black man.

14 Year Old Surgeon Wows Medical Professionals

A medical researcher in Jacksonville, Florida has developed a new stitching technique that could possibly transform surgical procedures around the world. Perhaps the most fascinating detail is the researcher is a 14-year-old high school freshman.

Tony Hansberry II has created a new way to sew up hysterectomy patients in efforts to reduce the risks of post surgical complications and simplify the delicate procedure for less experienced surgeons, reports Jacksonville News. So far, the young man has only performed the surgery on dummies but has managed to fascinate the medical community enough to peak the interests of seasoned surgeons. On April 24 Hansberry presented his findings in the University of Florida’s medical auditorium packed with board-certified physicians, with established practices older than Hansberry, eager to see what medical phenomenon awaits. Possible cure for AIDS? Or medical fluke?

BERLIN (Nov. 12) – An American man who suffered from AIDS appears to have been cured of the disease 20 months after receiving a targeted bone marrow transplant normally used to fight leukemia, his doctors said Wednesday.
While researchers — and the doctors themselves — caution that the case might be no more than a fluke, others say it may inspire a greater interest in gene therapy to fight the disease that claims 2 million lives each year. The virus has infected 33 million people worldwide.

Dr. Gero Huetter said his 42-year-old patient, an American living in Berlin who was not identified, had been infected with the AIDS virus for more than a decade. But 20 months after undergoing a transplant of genetically selected bone marrow, he no longer shows signs of carrying the virus.
