I have nothing against, Katharine McPhee. She is pretty, talented, and very charming. Here is the thing, she is also very dull on screen.

She simply doesn’t pop, there’s no fire, no passion, no thing. She is just as pretty and talented as that sweet girl who goes to your church, or lives in your neighborhood that a really sweet voice.

For a show that advertises in the commercial , Debra Messing saying “she just glows”, it just doesn’t seem like any of the face time Katharine is given adds up to anything more than ‘average’ to ‘okay’. Where is this supposed glow? Does Katharine McPhee make you feel like you can soar when you hear her sing like Christina Aguilera, or Jennifer Hudson? Are her dance moves so astounding that you simply cannot take your eyes off her?

No, that is not gonna happen, sorry guys, but they should have casted someone with more punch, who had that factor “X”, that undeniable thing that easily shows the audience watching there is no question your a star and stand apart from all others.

Maybe once the show premieres I will change my mind, and if I do I will own up to it. But I predict a painfully short run of Smash, unless they immediately switch lead actresses. Just my opinion, but something about her just isn’t gonna sell.  The tag line “Stars aren’t born, their made ” would be a pretty honest way to describe this mess.

The only thing that could possibly upstage the fun, flirty and ultra sexy lingerie and swimsuits from Etam’s Spring/Summer 2012 fashion show would be a hefty dose of diva!

And indeed there was.

On Monday night style icon and actress Grace Jones was joined by the legendary Chaka Khan, Sister Sledge and Gloria Gaynor in Paris where the ladies turned the Etam Spring/Summer 2012 runway show into a modern day Studio 54.

The 1970′s disco queens belted out the songs that made them stars, as models ripped the runway in hot pink afros and intimates that left little to the imagination. And if that wasn’t wild enough–some models carried snakes around their shoulders like pashminas and strutted out with technicolored poodles.

It’s to be expected that models working a lingerie show are in tip-top shape, but can someone please tell us how Grace Jones, who is 63-years-old, can still rock the heck out of a leotard? Her body defies logic and biology. You go girl!

To close out the show, Sister Sledge was joined onstage by the rest of the 70′s songstresses to perform their mega hit “We Are Family.”

A day before the release of the 2012 Guinness World Records, The Dutchess visited The Huffington Post to talk about her life and celebrate her inclusion in this year’s edition — a celebration of “unique beauty,” including fresh pictures of the world’s longest tongue, the largest afro, and a “holy man” with 453 piercings.

“I never set out to make it into Guinness,” she says. “It just happened.” “One day I stopped cutting my nails. I liked the way they looked. And they just kept growing.”

With five kids and three grandchildren, The Dutchess considers herself a very young, very active, hard-rockin’ grandma. Her forthcoming single, “Phoenix,” off the album “Live And Let Live” drops later this month.

“The nail on the middle finger of her left hand is as long as two Nathan’s hot dogs [22 inches],” said Guinness marketing manager Stuart Claxton.

“The average skateboard is about the same size as the thumbnail on her right hand [35 inches].”

The Dutchess had her famous fingers lacquered in glittering gold. She painted them herself, and laughed when asked how many bottles of nail polish she uses in a single session.

“A man wouldn’t ask that question,” she says. “It depends on the brand, and how it goes on.”

Fashion, however, can be a challenge, but “when a girl sees what she wants,” she says, “she goes out and gets it.”

Jackets need buttons or zippers installed on the sleeves. Tying a shoe is tricky, but not impossible.

As for sports: “I don’t swim, but it’s not the nails that stop me. It’s a hair thing.”

Lee Redmond, the last woman to hold the World’s Longest Fingernails record, broke hers in an auto accident. Redmond’s nails were 34 to 35 inches in length, and collectively were nearly 10 feet longer than her successor, requiring nearly 30 years to grow.

The Utah retiree, now 70, decided to keep her nails short after the accident, telling the AP that she found it easier to do simple things with her hands.

The Dutchess, however, can’t imagine clipping, and doesn’t even want to think about an accident. When she’s in a crowd, she’ll count on a friend or family member to walk in front of her so she doesn’t get bumped.

“They’re kind of like a body part that I’ve lived with for years,” she says. “I don’t know what I would do without them. I’ve adjusted the way I’ve lived for so long, it would be hard to go back.”

And to those women who have trouble growing their nails, The Dutchess says she doesn’t have a special diet. As a vegetarian, she doesn’t drink milk, nor does she take nutritional supplements.

“I eat a lot of candy, and I have a lot of patience.”

The transgression occurred on August 20th, in a comedy club in Phoenix, Arizona. In part of his response to his heckler, Williams launched into a tirade against Mexicans living in the United States.

“Mothaf*ckas think they can live in this country and pledge allegiance to another country… Do you remember when white people used to say go back to Africa? And we’d have to tell them we don’t want to? So if you love Mexico, bitch, get the f*ck over there!” he said.

William’s comments have provoked outrage from some of his fans on YouTube and from members of the Latino community, including prominent Mexican-American author Luis Rodriguez.

From conservative pundits constant slip-of-the-tongue references to Obama as “Osama,” Glenn Beck claiming the president “hates white people” and even Donald Trump’s over-hyped demands to see the president’s birth certificate, critics have levied some very brazen, almost radical assaults against Obama.

And while some say it’s just politics as usual, others are questioning whether race is making Obama the most disrespected U.S. president in history.

And for those who want to say it’s just partisan politics as usual, or just the kind of thing that goes with being an unpopular president, let’s consider a few low-lights:

The “You lie!” shout during the president’s speech on health care reform before the joint session of Congress in Sept. 2009

The recent posturing, walk-outs and tantrums thrown over the debt ceiling debate, which eventually led to our country’s credit being downgraded.

Newt Gingrich referring to the president as “the food stamp president” and saying that Pres. Obama “knows how to get the whole country to resemble Detroit.”

Oklahoma Senator Tom Coburn — who supposedly enjoys a warm relationship with the president, saying he doesn’t think President Obama wants to destroy the country, but “his intent is to create dependency because it worked so well for him as an African-American male” who “received tremendous advantage from” welfare programs.

Congressman Mitch McConnell’s bold proclamation that he wants to be Senate Majority Leader to make sure that Obama is a one-term president.

Rush Limbaugh saying that he wants to see this president fail. (Note: Limbaugh has modified that statement to say he meant his “policies.” But when it was said, it was less than a year into Obama’s presidency and he was still cleaning up the mess from the previous president’s policies, which Limbaugh had very little to say about during the Bush era).

Former Fox News host Glenn Beck declaring on the air that the president “hates white people” and “the white culture.”

Television personality Donald Trump’s over-the-top taunting of the president, hyping unprecedented demands to see the president’s birth certificate.

The shouts of “We want our country back!” by the Tea Party.

And the frequent habit of not calling the president by his proper honorific: “President Obama”, rather than just “Obama” — by quite a few elected officials, pundits and others.

President Barack Obama asked to deliver his economic speech to the joint session of Congress next Wednesday. House Speaker John Boehner, told him no. He’ll have to do it on the 8th. Boehner cited a scheduling conflict, but the real “conflict” appears to be the GOP presidential debate scheduled for the same date. The president has been forced to capitulate — and will now have to compete with the opening night of the NFL season for viewers.

What may seem like a minor slight underscores the crux of the problem in Washington: A blatant, sustained and unabashed disrespect of the president of the United States of America.

And it is historic.

Never in our nation’s history has a president been publicly denied access to the chamber for an address, according to the House historian. This is just the latest in a string of eyebrow-raising and even historic slights.

This negative “attention” that this president seems to attract cuts across partisan lines. Even before he took office, Joe Biden referred to him as the first “clean, articulate” African-American candidate. (Which we assume was meant as a compliment).

And let’s not forget Bill Clinton, who chalked up Obama’s win in South Carolina to being similar to Jesse Jackson’s wins there in the 80s and then had the audacity to cry foul, saying the race card was played on him when Obama supporters called him out.

There was also his Senate mentor Joe Lieberman, who blocked the public option in the health care bill. And the near-deafening silence by high-ranking Democrats, including Senate leader Harry Reid, while all of this is going on.

The question among some of us who love this country and want to see it succeed is what is all of this really all about? Because it just seems as if there is a pissing contest going on, but the only ones getting wet are the American people; many of whom are suffering through the worst economy of their lives.

Some may call this obstructionism. But I think there’s something else going on here. Now I’m not saying it’s racism. But if it quacks like a duck and walks like a duck…

At the very least it’s un-American. Because while all of this is going on, Americans are suffering.

This shouldn’t be about President Obama. All 535 lawmakers who were sent to Washington to make a difference must ask themselves this question: is opposing everything this president does for the sake of opposition, or worse for a more insidious reason, helping this nation get back on her feet?

If the answer is no, then they need to knock it off. And if they’re not going to do it, it’s time for the silent majority to do it for them. Enough is enough!

The Young Money femcee opens the video in style by riding a luxurious vehicle. Rocking a pink pixie-cut wig and a long flowing lavender dress, she makes a stop in a plane wreck.

She then changes into a leopard-colored wig and bronze-colored outfit with bubble skirt. She is joined by Roc Nation singer RiRi who wears a long-sleeved mini outfit.

The music video was filmed in January. “We’re going to save the world in more ways than one with the video and that’s all I can say about that,” the femcee said back then. “I love Ri-Ri! I mean, when she’s not grabbing my ass she’s a sweet girl.”

Premiere date for the video was put on hold to give a room for the release of “Super Bass” and its accompanying clip first. She actually had no plan to drop the single, but changed her mind after it got endorsement from Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez.

Ashford, who along with wife Valerie Simpson wrote some of Motown’s biggest hits, died in a New York City hospital, said publicist Liz Rosenberg, who was Ashford’s longtime friend. He had been suffering from throat cancer and had undergone radiation treatment, she told The Associated Press.

Though they had some of their greatest success at Motown with classics like “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” and “Reach Out And Touch Somebody’s Hand” by Ross and “You’re All I Need To Get By” by Gaye and Tammi Terrell, Ashford & Simpson also created anthems for others, like “I’m Every Woman” by Khan (and later remade by Whitney Houston). Ashford & Simpson also had success writing for themselves: Perhaps the best-known song they sang was the 1980s hit “Solid As A Rock.”

“His music is unmatched in terms of great songwriting,” Verdine White of Earth, Wind and Fire said after learning of his friend’s death.

“They had magic and that’s what creates those wonderful hits, that magic,” White added. “Without those songs, those artists wouldn’t have been able to go to the next level.”

Others in the music industry also mourned the loss. On Twitter, Alicia Keys wrote, “I’m so sad that he’s gone. … So many of the greatest are going to a greater place … what a legacy of infectious music … man!”

Ashford and Simpson’s relationship stretched more than four decades. They met in 1964 in a New York City church. Ashford, a South Carolina native, had come to the city to pursue a dance career. Simpson was a music student, and after connecting with her, they decided to start to write songs together.

“They were always comfortable with each other and they made all of us comfortable, because they were comfortable,” White said.

Their first major success occurred when they came up with “Let’s Go Get Stoned” for Ray Charles. The bluesy, gospel-tinged song became a huge hit for Charles, and soon, they came to the attention of Motown Records and began penning hits for their artists.

They started out writing soulful, romantic works for the duo of Gaye and Terrell that would become instant classics, like “Your Precious Love,” and “Ain’t Nothin’ Like The Real Thing.” In fact, “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” was originally their hit, until Ross later rerecorded it with a new arrangement that had sweeping pop grandeur and made it her signature song.

Ross may have been their greatest muse: With her, they had some of their biggest songs and helped give her career-defining hits that would distinguish her solo career apart from The Supremes. Among the songs Ross made hits were “Reach Out and Touch,” ”The Boss,” ”My House,” and “Missing You,” a tribute to the late Gaye and others. They also composed some of the music for “The Wiz,” the movie musical that starred Ross and Michael Jackson.

In an industry where marriages and partnerships are fleeting, Ashford and Simpson stood the test of time.

“The thing is they were married and working together, that was what was special about them. Everybody admired that,” White said.

The duo, married for 38 years, helped sell millions of records for several artists. They also had success as their own entity, but despite “Solid As a Rock,” their songs were dwarfed by those they penned for others. They continued to craft hits even into the new millennium: They are credited as co-writers on Amy Winehouse’s “Tears Dry On Their Own.”

In recent years, the pair continued to perform. They also were owners of the New York City restaurant Sugar Bar, where many top names and emerging talents would put on showcases.

In 2002, Ashford & Simpson were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Ashford is survived by his wife and two daughters. Rosenberg said there is no information yet on funeral arrangements.
